If WolvesCanEatMe is my fic-wifey, then TheRainGirl is my first love. Due to her grammar skills and eye for a story, I didn’t hesitate to wrangle her into the international lineup of judges.
TheRainGirl is a beta for Project Team Beta under the name Zonagirlie and contributes to the Raining Superstars Smutblog. Rain has beta’d for several novel writers—two of these authors now have agents and have sold their books to publishing houses. Recently, she has completed her piece for National Novel Writing Month with a final NaNo word count of 50,131, and donated a story to Fandom for Preemies.

I first met this Arizona girlie during the Forbidden Lemon Contest, where we both had entries. Her winning one shot, Extraordinary Girl, remains one of my favourite single shot lemons to this day. Bella, a neglected wife, goes to a boudoir photography session to add a little spice back into her marriage—she gets a large dose of lemon instead. The twist at the end kills me every time and I strongly urge you to read it.
After bonding over the contest, Rain offered to beta the continuation of my entry and gave me support throughout, as well as an option to visit her in sunny Arizona, for which I’m eternally grateful.
Rain’s main multi-chapter is Inamorata, where she treats us to a delightful tale about a Bella, or Stripperella as she is more commonly known, who likes to shake her booty in the privacy of her own bedroom. Of course, this story wouldn’t be complete without a pair of eyes to appreciate the show—cue Peeperward.
The opening chapter pulls you straight into the action, as Edward looks into Chief Swan’s house opposite to see a petite brunette giving it some to “I Love Rock and Roll.” But don’t get to thinking that this is just brainless filth—despite the visual shenanigans, intellectual Bella and Edward compete and spark off each other in high school, while their snarky relationship develops into lurve. Rain said it best—“horny hilarity ensues.”
Here is a taster of the latest chapter:
“After dinner, Edward and I watch the “kids” play Playstation and argue as to why Jasper sucks at Mario Kart unless he’s the Princess and why Alice shouldn’t be allowed to play until she stops throwing the controller. Poor Emmett did not see that coming.
When Rose arrives, she whips everyone's asses and they stop playing pretty soon after that. Everyone splits off and Edward takes me up to his room after we let the dogs out and feed them. We sit in his bed and he makes me take more pain meds, only half a dose this time and we watch Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reruns. I even bat my eyelashes enough to get him to do his “Carlton” dance for me. We fall asleep together watching television, just wrapped up together. I’ve never slept so well before.”
Rain has also written a slashy one shot, Unsportsmanlike Conduct. It’s a graphic little Jasper/Edward testosterone fuelled lemon, which was originally written for the Slash Backslash 2.0 Contest. Nothing wrong with a little guy-on-guy PWP—it’s hot!
